From 1997 to 2012, Mr. Powell was Managing Director at Sanders Morris Harris, a regional investment banking firm headquartered in Houston, Texas, with a branch in New York City, where he resides. In 2012, when the firm was sold to Wunderlich Securities, Mr. Powell continued as Managing Director until he retired from Wall Street in 2018. He served as Chairman of Marleau, Lemire USA and Vice Chairman of Marleau, Lemire Securities, Inc., from 1994 to 1996. Prior to his time at Marleau, Lemire, he served as a Senior Managing Director in the Corporate Finance Department of Bear Stearns & Co. from 1984 to 1994, with responsibilities for the firm’s domestic and international investment banking efforts. Before that, Mr. Powell served as Senior Vice President and Director of E.F. Hutton & Co., where he was employed in various capacities for 18 years. He is currently a director of Nirvana Water Sciences.
Mr. Powell is a graduate of Salem College and has served on the Board of Trustees since 1995.
